Meta launches an AI-based music generator
Meta has released its own AI-powered music generator, MusicGen, which can convert a lyric description (e.g., “A 90’s pop song with synth pads in the background”) into around 12 seconds of audio. MusicGen can optionally be inspired by an audio reference, i.e. an existing song, and then tries to follow both the description and the melody. MusicGen has been trained on 20,000 hours of music, including 10,000 “premium” licensed music tracks and 390,000 instrumental tracks from ShutterStock and Pond5, an extensive library of stock media.
Instagram Notes now lets you share music
Following the public announcement of new features for Instagram Notes last December, Notes now supports music and translation, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced via his Instagram broadcast channel. Instagram Notes allows users to leave a status message that appears at the top of their inbox for their close or mutual friends, which previously could only contain text and emojis. The new feature allows users to share a clip of a song and a caption of the note if needed. Song clips are supported in all markets worldwide where Instagram owns music licensing rights.
Instagram Notes also has a translation feature for posts written in another language, e.g. B. Post Descriptions, Comments and Reels.
Instagram launches its channel feature to deliver messages worldwide
Another change for Insta this week: Meta is rolling out the channel feature on Instagram to broadcast messages worldwide, a feature previously only available to certain creators and users. CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on his Instagram channel and recommended a few channels to follow. The Channels feature allows creators to share individual posts with their fans, and in May the company announced the ability for creators to collaborate on channels.
Meta introduces its new speech-to-text translation tool, Voicebox
Meta launches Voicebox – a generative AI model that can help with audio editing, sampling and styling. The system can accept text input and translate it into audio with various language options. This allows for advanced text-to-audio translation, but with reduced learning and processing requirements compared to other similar offerings. In addition, the voice box is multilingual, allowing for simplified and native variations of text input in different languages.
Elon Musk announces that Twitter’s video application for smart TVs is “coming soon”.
A Twitter video app for SmartTVs is in development, owner Elon Musk said in a tweet on Saturday — a move in line with plans to focus on video creators and business partnerships that CEO Linda Yaccarino and Musk have during at an investor presentation last week.
