How to print a t-shirt with Canva

Printing a t-shirt with Canva is super simple. I’ve had a few t-shirts printed so far and the quality is good based on my experience. All you have to do is:

  1. Finalize your design (using a template or creating your own template from scratch). Please note that if you use a Canva template, you may not resell the design, only use it for personal use to print a t-shirt.
  2. Finalize the front and back page of your design (they may be different).
  3. Choose your style (man, woman, youth, child, baby).
  4. Choose your color (current colors are black, white and navy).
  5. Choose your size. Canva has a size guide and I recommend using it to check your sizes. I find they run a little small for women’s tees, so I usually stand up.
  6. Confirm your order and make the payment. So far I have found delivery to be quick to Australia (2-3 days to my locality) so I hope it does well in your locality too!

Tips to ensure a good quality print result:

Here are some tips I’ve found helpful for T-shirt printing:

  1. Make sure you compare the preview of your shirt with the color you choose. This will ensure that the design looks great against the color you choose and has enough contrast to print well as a T-shirt.
  2. Use the ‘Compare’ button to compare the sizes to other shirts you own as this will give you the best comparison.
  3. Use high quality elements on your t-shirt designs. Avoid photos or low resolution items/graphics as they will not print clearly.
  4. For the women out there…women’s sizes are fine, although I usually tend to go up a size. Definitely use the sizing guide. It’s reasonably accurate, and I’ve always been happy with the fit (and quality) of Canva shirts. Enjoy!

Want to create your own design?

It’s easy with Canva. Start with a blank template (search for T-Shirt Template) and start creating:

  1. Use fonts/typefaces to add a nice message.
  2. Search for elements to find the illustrations and styles you want to add – from illustrations to photos and all kinds of elements in between, there are millions of elements you can add to a T-shirt design.
  3. Just remember that there are strict rules for “selling” printed products using Canva designs. Be sure to check out some of the commercial content licenses here or watch the video below. As far as a legal video goes, it’s actually quite funny and explains things well:

I recommend contacting Canva Support if you have any questions about what you can create and sell using Canva designs, as they will be able to give you specific advice.
