Google Opens Beta for E-Signature and Gmail “Email Layout v2”

Google has announced the next phase of testing new features for Google Workspace users.

After initiating alpha testing, Google has expanded the availability of eSignatures to provide a smoother signing experience for individual Google Workspace subscribers.

Google has also encouraged other Google Workspace users to request early access to eSignature in Google Docs and Drive and “Email Layouts v2” for Gmail.

Google expands e-signature availability

Positive feedback and constructive insights have prompted Google to expand e-signature, which is expected to roll out to individual Google Workspace subscribers over the next couple of weeks.

The electronic signature is designed to assist small business owners and individuals who often have difficulty managing contracts, customer agreements, and other legally binding documents.

Integration with Google Docs and Google Drive will allow users to request and add signatures to official contracts directly within the platform.

Streamline processes for requesting signatures, viewing the status of pending requests, and searching for completed contracts.

For the recipient, signing a document within an official Google Drive eliminates the need to switch apps or cards. A simpler process could reduce the time it takes to complete a contract.

Select business, education, enterprise, and nonprofit Google Workspace customers can request early access to electronic signatures.

The application also mentions a trial product for “Email Layout v2” in Gmail which allows users to “…create, edit and customize email layouts in Gmail”.

Both features could improve contract management for Workspace users, from sending a contract via email with a custom layout to capturing the signature from a client within Gmail.

Upcoming plans for workspace test products

Google plans to enhance e-signature capabilities later this year with features that include a contract audit trail, the ability to request multiple signatures, support for signatures from non-Gmail users, and e-signature on PDF files stored in Drive.

For Workspace users with contracts and agreements, the new eSignature features in Google Docs and Drive, as well as customizable email layouts, could significantly simplify the process of capturing signatures.
